HARMAN’s Martin Professional M6 Lighting Console is the Optimal Solution for Tiens Conference

NEW YORK, New York — For Tiens Company’s annual distributor conference at Moscow’s Russia Hall in SC “luzhniki”, featuring a combination of official speeches and an original concert program for 8,000 guests, HARMAN’s Martin Professional provided Lighting Designer Roman Kasaev with a M6 console to control a design with over 100 Martin lighting fixtures.

To ensure the lighting design integrated seamlessly with the conference’s theme, Kasaev teamed with Daniel Maneshin, Technical Director at the Knyazev Agency, who was brought in to design the conference’s main concept. Maneshin also developed the conference’s business section as well as conceptualized many decorative and informative elements, which featured several LED screens mounted on the main stage. Kasaev chose 48 MAC 101 compact LED wash lights due to the brightness and colors that complimented the LED screens used at the event. The MAC 101s were mounted on custom-made metal structures between screen modules, eight pieces per aperture, due to their bright colored lights that fit ideally with the colors of the video-content on LED screens.

“The MAC 101s are extremely bright and they were never lost on the background of the LED screens,” said Kasaev. “What’s more, there were moments when they outshined the powerful MAC III Profiles.”

“Thanks to the built-in effects engine of the M6, I was able to create a very sophisticated and beautiful color and dimming effects for the MAC 101s,” Kasaev explained. “It resulted in a very intense, bright and impressive picture! The MAC 101s are very fast, so I could bring more diversity into lighting design to make it more dynamic and filled with drive and energy.”

The event program also featured classical ballet and acrobatic performances. To highlight the actors and gymnasts, Kasaev also chose 34 MAC III Profiles to create unique lighting accents with beautiful rays and gobo projections.

For Kasaev, the Tiens Conference was the first project where he was able to work with M6 console, only a slight change as he is familiar with the philosophy from using the M1 and M2GO controllers before. “I had a very big set of equipment for this project so I needed a more powerful console than the M,” Kasaev said. “I reached out to the Representative Office of Martin Professional in Moscow for the support and they provided me with M6 console.”

“Working with the M6 console was very cool and awesome,” he continued. “It’s definitely number one in the M-series due to the features, functions, power and possibilities. The effects engine that Martin’s R&D invented and implemented is a crazy story! The programming speed is really impressive! I had two monitors that allowed me to program many things much faster. The whole process is a pleasure, when you work on M6! The implementation is excellent, very easy to use. Every LD could find all the instruments they need to put their creative ideas into life! I want to recommended LDs to try to work with M-series consoles. It is really very easy, logical and simple solution for programming a variety of lighting effects!”

In addition, Kasaev deployed 50 MAC Aura’s and 12 Atomic 3000 DMX strobes throughout the lighting design.

HARMAN’s Martin Professional M6 Lighting Console Brings Joy To Changlong International Circus Festival

ZHUHAI, China – Located in the southern Guangdong province and bordering Macau, Zhuhai is a premier tourist hotspot in China. Recently, it is also the host to the Changlong International Circus Festival, of which the committee selected the HARMAN’s Martin M6 Console to control and calibrate the lighting systems on and around the stage. Local Martin distributor Guangzhou Dan-Pro Stage Equipment Co., Ltd recommended the console from a world-renowned brand not only to match the popularity of the venue, but also to provide a compelling experience to such a joyous event.

The Martin M6 console offers the most advanced visualization of lighting control, accommodating a wide product range from traditional fixtures to moving lights and even the most advanced media servers with ease. The setup for the festival features two M6 consoles of the 64 channel version, as well as eight Ether2DMX8™ DMX routers.

“The M6 console is extremely popular amongst integrators, especially for live applications,” said Yuri Zhang, Vice GM of Guangzhou Dan-Pro Stage Equipment Co., Ltd. “During shows that span multiple days, it is imperative for the lighting systems to be controlled by a console that can consistently keep up with the pace without failure. To this end, the body of the console consists of a lightweight aluminum shell, which also allows for a compact design and fast setup times.”

The show features 10 consecutive days of clown acts, circus and aerial acrobatics, animal performances and magic acts, pushing top groups around the world to exciting levels of brilliance. Since there are no two acts alike, all participants had different requirements for synchronizing the lighting effects with their performance. Powered by an industrial multi-core processor and solid-state drives, the M6 console is well equipped to endure such a long and arduous event.

“The M6 console is one of the most reliable lighting consoles to date,” according to Zhang. “It pushes innovative boundaries in terms of flexibility and modularity, as it works with nearly all forms of lighting equipment. By adding a custom touchscreen display to improve ergonomics and workflow, we boost user confidence, so that they may focus on the show.”

The Circus Festival organizers, Changlong Group’s board members, and technical staff were all satisfied with the performance of the Martin M6 console, and praised it for its design and effectiveness. The operators found the controls to be “ambitiously effective” and thus, the M6 will continue its mission to accommodate regular programs for the Changlong International Circus.

Devoted Fans Celebrate 311 Day with Five Hours of Music and Lighting From HARMAN’s Martin Professional

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana — Devoted 311 fans swarmed to New Orleans this year for the ultimate celebratory concert experience on March 11, better known as 311 Day. Showcasing a culmination of 11 albums, including their most recent studio album released earlier this year, titled Stereolithic, HARMAN’s Martin Professional Atomic 3000 DMX strobes (10) and M6 lighting console were deployed by Joe Paradise, Lighting Designer.

311, an American rock band from Omaha, Nebraska formed in 1988, created 311 Day in 2000 when the band played 47 songs straight. Since then, the band has consistently increased its set list, including over five-and-a-half hours of music this year.

“The biggest challenge is being able to program at a high rate of speed and to be able to have most of the songs programmed ‘cue to cue’,” Paradise said about the M6 console. “I have used Martin consoles since the Maxxyz lighting console came out and have always been impressed with the ease of programming and how simple but diverse the effects engine is.”

"I switched to the M1 because of how solid it is and the familiar syntax and since then have chosen the M6 for the same reason. I really do enjoy the larger format and the numerous playbacks. I am really happy with how modular it is and I really enjoy the variety of playback placement types as well as the playback options. The touch screens are really easy on the eyes but vivid and very accurate. It just keeps getting better!”

On this particular show, Paradise had Martin’s M1 console standing by as a network backup console, but it was never needed. “The goal was to make this a very special event for hardcore fans of 311,” Paradise stated. "I wanted to make the show look a lot larger than it was and make the audience feel as though they were part of it as opposed to just being there. The M6 console makes getting what you see in your mind’s eye to the fixtures very simple and effortless.”

Paradise, who has used just about every Martin fixture since the MAC 250s and 300s came out, utilized the Atomic strobes to create diverse effects for the audience. “The crowd really responded to some of the looks and gags we put together and everyone walked away very happy! It was a great experience and I always enjoy using Martin to showcase my vision.”

HARMAN’s Martin M6 Console A SMASH Hit In European Debut

BRISTOL, United Kingdom – Creative visual design company SMASH Productions has ordered and taken delivery of the first HARMAN Martin M6 lighting control console in Europe, making it readily available for rental and deployments for assorted shows and productions around the UK.

SMASH, headed by Alex ‘Junior’ Cerio and Tim Smith is known for its innovative, imaginative and fresh approach to production design, creating fabulous environments by combining lighting, video, visuals and scenic elements for any type of live event. Their work has encompassed many genres and styles, from corporate launches and parties, to touring with international DJs and bands.

“Investing in control elements to run mixed media shows is very much on our agenda, so we wanted a forward-looking console,” stated Cerio. “M6 definitely fits the bill, providing straightforward and simple control of complex multimedia and supplying the user with a look into the future with its variety of visual tools.”

The M6 is a state-of-the-art lighting console, which functions as an advanced ‘visual control’ surface, able to control any lighting rig from conventional moving lights to digital fixtures and LED pixels. The console can be hooked up to media servers in SMASH’s studio and used for pre-visualizing, designing, planning and programming shows in advance. The console also provides an element of continuity for shows on worldwide tours. With a Martin M2GO console and Ether2DMX8 node already in its rig, SMASH is well aware of the reliability and intuitive operational philosophies of the Martin M-Series of products.

“A massive amount of thought has gone into the M6 console and how it can be used by the most demanding designers, programmers and operators, like our friends at SMASH,” said Dave Stewart, Martin Show Consultant. “The M6 presents a real challenge to established control brands, with inventive and easy-to-use hardware like fast-dials access to parameters and multi touch-screens.”

The first SMASH Productions show for the new M6 was David Guetta’s special guest appearances on Rihanna’s UK & European stadium shows. SMASH recently provided production and visual design (lighting and video) plus technical co-ordination for the main stage of the Love Saves The Day Festival in Bristol. Additionally, Cerio is the Lighting Director for David Guetta’s on-going live performances.
